Perlas hands Zalgiris first loss in LKL this season 0

Zalgiris Kaunas suffered first defeat in Lithuanian basketball league (LKL) this season. Kaunas’ team was stopped by Perlas Vilnius, the youngiest squad in LKL, 78:75 (14:15, 20:23, 16:17, 28:20).

Zalgiris got within 2 points with 33 seconds to play, when Arturas Milaknis scored a three pointer – 73:75.

In the next possesion Eimantas Bendzius made a three-pointer on his own and Perlas never looked back.

Ex-Zalgiris player Zydrunas Kelys led the winners with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Kaunas born Lukas Brazdauskis and Saulius Kulvietis added 11 and 10 points.

Dainius Salenga scored 26 for Zalgiris, who had won previous 12 games in LKL and was the only undefeated team. Arturas Milaknis and Aleksandar Capin added 12 points apiece.

Perlas improved to 6-10, just good enough for 9th place in LKL.
