Zalgiris battles through to another domestic victory 0
Zalgiris had to work hard for yet another victory against minnow opposition. The club from Kaunas took a 72:67 (21:21, 14:10, 13:19, 14:17) win against Nevezis in a Lithuanian League (LKL) game on the road in Kedainiai.
Mantas Kalnietis set the pace for Zalgiris scoring 17 points, Marcus Brown collected 15 as Tadas Klimavicius added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Nevezis’ Mantas Simonavicius had a game-leading 25 points, Egidijus Dimsa finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Paulius Beliavicius and Darius Silinskis netted 9 points each.
Zalgiris had managed to get away already in the first half, despite trailing 26:29 in the middle of the second quarter. The visitors used a 19:2 run to break from Nevezis and end enter halftime with a 45:31 lead.
However, Nevezis took the control of the game in the second part of the match and managed to battle their way back into the game mostly on Mantas Simonavicius’ effort.
Egidijus Dimsa had closed the gap to two points as the game was nearing to the end, but Marcus Brown’s and Mantas Kalnietis’ points sealed a hard fought victory for Zalgiris.
