Zalgiris overpowers Unicaja in Euroleague 0
Zalgiris Kaunas ended a skid of Euroleague losses with a thriller at home in Kaunas beating Unicaja Malaga 89:84.
Dainius Salenga and Martynas Pocius led the hosts with 17, Aleksandar Capin scored 14 and added 6 assists as Tadas Klimavicius finished the game with 12 and Travis Watson contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Robert Archibald was Unicaja’s top-scorer with 17, Joel Freekand added 16 and 8 boards as Omar Cook and Zabian Dowdell netted 12 each.
Zalgiris started the game better and after Martynas Pocius’ and Travis Watson’s baskets the Lithuanians had got themselves a 13-point lead – 39:26 in the 14 minute of the game.
The visitors from Spain needed 33 minutes to go ahead with a lead for the first time in the game at 72:71, but Aleksandar Capin’s accurate shooting kept Zalgiris in the game as the score was tied at 79:79.
After an unsportsmanlike foul by Martynas Pocius, Aleksandar Capin needed to go to rescue nailing the game-winning free-throws.
