Kalnietis, Jankunas lead Zalgiris to win over Techasas 0
Zalgiris stretched their winning streak in the Lithuanian league (LKL) to 14 after an 88-68 (25-19, 19-16, 15-16, 29-17) victory over Techasas on the road in Panevezys. The visitors were confidently in front for most of the game before Techasas closed the gap to single digits only to see Zalgiris go on a 13-3 run to make it just another routine route.
“Concentrating for the game and giving our best was the most important thing tonight. We committed some turnovers in the first half as we weren’t focused on the task at hand, but we managed to figure it out later,” said Mantas Kalnietis after the game, who top-scored for the Greens with 17 points in his account.
Paulius Jankunas finished the game with 16 and Travis Watson added a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards. Martynas Pocius collected 11 points, which included finishing an off the backboard dunk on a fast break.
The hosts Techasas were led by the duo of Tomas Cerneckis and former Zalgiris player Darius Silinskis, who both ended up scoring 14 for the Panevezys side while Marius Valukonis added 11.
