Marjanovic, Klimavicius lead Zalgiris past Neptunas 0
Boban Marjanovic and Tadas Klimavicius combined for 44 points setting Zalgiris on the path to a 107-85 (25-15, 33-23, 22-28, 27-19) victory over Neptunas Klaipeda, which extended the Kaunas’ side run to 16 straight victories in the Lithuanian League (LKL).
Zalgiris’ big man from Serbia Boban Marjanovic collected 15 points in the first half alone to finish the game with a total of 21 and only two missed shots, while Tadas Klimavicius had an even better game with 23 points and only a single miss.
Arturas Milaknis collected 13 points for the Greens, Paulius Jankunas and Mantas Kalnietis shared 12 each as Marcus Brown added 10.
“We played after a difficult week. Having won in Euroleague, we didn’t have many players today. Watson and Kuzminskas are ill, Collins has some problems with his shoulder and Pocius – with his knees, therefore we gave more playing time to other players, who will have a free day tomorrow to get some rest,” said Zalgiris coach Ilias Zouros after the win.
Mantas Ruikis had a game-high 24 points for the visiting Neptunas and Valdas Vasylius collected 19 while Luke Bonner and Martynas Mazeika also made it to double-figures with 10 points each.
