Kaunas derby ends with Zalgiris win 0
Zalgiris kept a clean record in the Lithuanian League (LKL) after dismantling KK Kaunas 75-57 (16-23, 20-8, 22-13, 20-13) in the derby of Kaunas. Last year’s runners-up have a 19-0 record in the LKL and have pretty much guaranteed the first seed for the playoffs well in advance, providing nothing unexpected happens.
“Sometimes you think that a game might be easy, you relax too much and then have to waste a lot of energy catching up in order to achieve the victory. We have a good team, but we have to have the right mindset from the very first minutes,” said Zalgiris’ Greek specialist Ilias Zouros.
Paulius Jankunas and Mindaugas Kuzminskas led the victors with 16 points each, while the big man Boban Marjanovic finished the game with a double-double of 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Only two players made into double-digits for KK Kaunas, with Vytenis Jasikevicius, the younger brother of Sarunas Jasikevicius, leading the game in scoring with 18 points while Sarunas Vasiliauskas chipped in with 10 points.
