Zalgiris 3-on-3 street basketball tournament attracted crowds 0
With the battles for the Lithuanian League (LKL) gold beginning already later this week, many Zalgiris fans had circled another date on the calendar as well. People gathered in hundreds to the 3-on-3 Zalgiris street basketball tournament in Kaunas organized by the club.
Supporters had a chance to test their skills and even challenge Zalgiris players in different challenges, such as trying to avoid a block from the club’s big men or attempting to beat Mantas Kalnietis in a game of Horse.
Despite the fact that these games drew the majority of attention, the actual tournament itself was no less important with 185 registered teams and over 650 players. There were six age groups starting with kids younger than 10 years old and ending with adults, as well as Special Olympics, journalist and sponsor groups.
The winners were awarded generously with Zalgiris’ gifts – tickets to the upcoming games, Adidas sneakers and t-shirts, BBL basketballs and many others.
