Zalgiris re-signs playmaker Collins 0

Zalgiris Kaunas moved to keep the motor of its team in place for another year by re-signing point guard DeJuan Collins for the coming season. This will mark Collins’s (188, 34) fourth season with the club.

Last season his playmaking skills and veteran leadership helped Zalgiris reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 and win the Lithuanian League title, Lithuanian Cup and Baltic League. He averaged 6.7 points and 2.3 assists over 16 games in the Euroleague, half of which he appeared in the starting lineup.

Colling first spent a season-and-a-half with Zalgiris, arriving in January 2007 and helping the team win back-to-back Lithuanian League and Cup doubles.

He led the Euroleague in assists with 5.3 per game during the 2007-08 season. Collins was also the Baltic League Final Four MVP in 2008 after leading Zalgiris to that title.

Collins has played two seasons in the Euroleague with Alba Berlin and has also appeared for Cajasol in Spain, Aris Thessaloniki and Kavala in Greece, Brose Baskets and Tubingen in Germany and Varese in Italy. Collins won the German League and German Cup titles with Alba in 2003 and helped Aris to the Greek Cup final in 2005.
