Zalgiris and team captain Jankunas commit to future together 0

Zalgiris Kaunas captain Paulius Jankunas has recommitted to his boyhood club by signing a new contract for two more seasons plus an option for an additional two years.

Jankunas (2.03 meters, 29 years old) enters his 10th season with Zalgiris and is at the prime of his career. He averaged 8.2 points and a team-high 4.8 rebounds in 17 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games in helping Zalgiris reach the Top 16. He finished a special season by helping Zalgiris repeat as Lithuanian League champion.

Jankunas is ranked 10th on the Euroleague career rebounding charts with 886 boards and fifth all-time with 303 offensive rebounds. He has spent his entire career with Zalgiris spare the 2009-10 campaign, when he suited up for BC Khimki in Russia. He has collected a total of seven Lithuanian League championships, four Lithuanian Cups and four Baltic League crowns during his career. Last season he also helped Zalgiris reach the VTB United League semifinals.
