Zalgiris ambassadors Dentmon, Pocius visit socialization center 0

Zalgiris Kaunas continues active participation in Turkish Airlines Euroleague One Team social programme. One Team ambassadors Martynas Pocius and Justin Dentmon teamed up with fans and management of the club and visited the Kaunas children socialization center.

Lithuanian champions started collaboration with the Socialization Center few weeks ago. Employees from the center work with teenagers trying to positively change their behavior and develop their inner values and social skills. Zalgiris joined the initiative with the same goal in mind: to help children become good, self-sufficient and responsible people.

After meeting with the kids in Zalgiris Arena, now Pocius and Dentmon paid a visit to the Socialization Center. The hosts and the guests gathered up for the discussion. Zalgiris players told the stories of their childhood dreams and how is important to have a goal in your life.

“It is great that Euroleague and One Team project reaches out to communities. Being the member of Zalgiris I am glad that I can contribute and be part of One Team, – says Zalgiris guard Pocius. – It is very important for these kids to have dreams in their lives. Some of these dreams are very simple. Some of these kids want to be basketball players, some want to find their place in life and we are glad to help them to choose the right path.”

Zalgiris leading scorer Dentmon contributed with the story of his growing up. Being part of the big family he had overcome some struggles to become one of the most exciting players of Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Dentmon encouraged the kids not to give up and to reach for their dreams.

When the discussion was over Zalgiris players invited the kids to the basketball court. One Team ambassadors taught the children to play as a team and help each other. Before it each of the kids received a special gift – original Zalgiris Turkish Airlines Euroleague jerseys.

The main aim of the collaboration between Zalgiris Kaunas and the Kaunas Socialization Center is not only to provide moments of joy for the children, but also to help them improve through the game of basketball. Every week the sessions take place in the center, where games are played and discussions are organized on relevant topics. The sessions are coordinated by representatives from Zalgiris Kaunas’s administration, the Zalgiris Honor Club and the team’s fan club, the “Green White Boys.”
