Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas will play for LKL title 0

Arch-rivals Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius will go against each other in the Lithuanian playoff finals. Two teams faced each other 15 years in a row in the finals, with Zalgiris winning 10 of those series, before Neptunas Klaipeda beat Rytas last season to break that streak.

Now, Rytas ousted Neptunas 3-1 in the semifinals to get back to the finals.

In the other semifinal series, Zalgiris swept Juventus with victories of 28, 33 and 47 points.

In the third game Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Juventus’ 28. Zalgiris forced 19 Juventus turnovers and won the game 96-49.

It was a great evening for American point guard Will Cherry who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. Center Arturas Gudaitis helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Zalgiris will go for its fifth consecutive title again against Lietuvos Rytas in a series that starts on May 28.
