Zalgiris re-signs center Robertas Javtokas 0
Center Robertas Javtokas will continue to anchor the Zalgiris Kaunas frontline next season after the sides agreed to new contract for the 2015-16 season.
Javtokas has spent the previous four seasons with Zalgiris, during which he helped the club to four straight Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 appearances. Javtokas and Zalgiris have also won four Lithuanian League crowns, two Lithuanian Cups and one Baltic League title together.
Last season he averaged 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 23 Euroleague games. Javtokas scored his 1,000th Euroleague point this past season and enters the 2015-16 campaign tied for fifth in Euroleague history with 140 blocked shots. His 277 career offensive rebounds place him 13th on the competition’s all-time list.
Javtokas is on a short list of players to have won both the Euroleague and Eurocup titles. He celebrated the 2007 Euroleague crown with Panathinaikos Athens and was the 2005 ULEB Cup Final MVP when he led Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius to that title. Javtokas began his career with the Siauliai junior teams and also made his professional debut for the club. He has since played for the University of Arizona in the Unites States, Rytas in Lithuania, Panathinaikos in Greece, Dynamo Moscow and Khimki Moscow Region in Russia and Valencia Basket in Spain.
His career boasts a total of eight domestic titles in three countries and three more regional titles. Javtokas was also a longtime member of the Lithuanian national team, with whom he won the silver medal at EuroBasket 2013 and bronze medals at EuroBasket 2007 and the 2010 World Championship.
