Zalgiris defeats Nevezis on the road 1
Zalgiris Kaunas finished the first LKL round on a high note. Defending champions won an important game on the road against Nevezis Kedainiai. Final score – 81:68 (27:10, 17:17, 9:18, 28:23).
Zalgiris started the match with great intensity. Leo Westermann came from the bench to score quick 7 points and Zalgiris defense was on point and at the end of the first period – 27:10.
Nevezis improved their offense in the second quarter, but the greens continued to dominate. With the solid plays from Augusto Lima the score was 44:27 at the halftime.
Zalgiris struggled a bit in the third period. Nevezis stepped up in defense, therefore the difference started to decrease. Edgaras Ulanovas brought it back to 53:36, but the hosts scored last 9 points of the quarter – 53:45.
The start of the last period gave hope for Kedainiai fans as their team got close to 58:54. However, Arturas Milaknis stroke down two three pointers and Zalgiris didn’t allow Nevezis to come back and won the game – 81:68.
Westermann led Zalgiris with 15 points. Paulius Jankunas and Ulanovas each added 13.
Justas Sinica was the leading scorer of Nevezis with 15. Toy Prostran got 13 points.
