Zalgiris finishes the second LKL round with a symbolic win 41
Zalgiris Kaunas got their 17th LKL win in a row on Sunday. The defending champions avenged the only LKL team that has beaten Zalgiris this season – Lietkabelis Panevezys. Both teams played quality basketball but in the end, Zalgiris managed to get the win at Zalgirio arena. Final score – 76:65 (15:11, 20:16, 21:21; 20:17).
The first quarter was all defense. Both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket, therefore neither team couldn‘t go far ahead. Zalgiris led 15:11 after the first.
Edgaras Ulanovas and Paulius Jankunas helped Zalgiris to gain a bigger lead in the second quarter. The score before the halftime was 35:27.
Jankunas continued to play very well and with the help of Leo Westermann set the tone for Zalgiris offense in the third. But Lietkabelis played really solidly ant did not let Zalgiris get a huge lead before the final quarter – 56:48.
Lietkabelis fought hard and tried to get back in the game, but Zalgiris players were concentrated and managed to close the game with ease. Final score – 76:65.
Jankunas got 15 point and 5 rebounds for Zalgiris. Brock Motum added 10 points and 2 steals.
Simas Galdikas was the leading scorer for Lietkabelis with 15. Ben Madgen got 13.
