LKL finals start with Zalgiris win 9
Lithuanian League final series started on Saturday. Zalgiris Kaunas won the first game at Zalgirio arena defeating Lietkabelis Panevezys with the score 73:67.
The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half 37:29. Lietkabelis won the third quarter and got the score to 55:53. However, it was not enough to take a lead. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zalgiris won last quarter and the game 73:67.
Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Lietkabelis’ 22. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists.
Brazilian center Augusto Lima contributed with 20 points for the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of French guard Leo Westermann who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.
Lietkabelis forward Mindaugas Lukauskis and center Ksistof Lavrinovic answered with 15 points each.
