Defending Betsafe LKL champions Zalgiris clinched the number one seed for the Play-Offs with a hard-fought 85-76 road victory against Pieno Zvaigzdes on Sunday evening.
The Sarunas Jasikevicius-coached Kaunas club improved to a 30-4 mark with a win in Pasvalys and secured the top spot in the Regular Season with a couple of games in hand.
Meanwhile, it did not change anything for Pieno Zvaigzdes, who dropped to 14-22, but had already guaranteed to finish sixth regardless of the result of their last game.
Preparing for the Final Four battles in the EuroLeague, coach Jasikevicius rested some of his main players and used the opportunity for 17-year-old point guard Rokas Jokubaitis to make his Betsafe LKL debut.
He finished the game with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 12 minutes of playing time.
Brandon Davies led Zalgiris in scoring with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Aaron White collected 11 points and 6 boards, while Paulius Valinskas was the only other double-digit scorer for the Greens with 10 points next to his name.
For Pieno Zvaigzdes, Osvaldas Olisevicius had a game-high 24 points and 8 rebounds, Jahenns-Ley Manigat scored 14 points, with Vyacheslav Bobrov adding 12 points.
