#ZALGIRISVIRGIN. Jokubaitis reminisces about his first Zalgiris game 0

The #ZALGIRISVIRGIN campaign continues inviting Zalgiris fans to make their first visit to the team’s home game and experience an unforgettable atmosphere. This time, it was the team’s youngest player, Rokas Jokubaitis sharing the story of losing his Zalgiris virginity.

The Mazeikiai-born 18-year-old witnessed his first Zalgiris game in an LKL final against Rytas, as he visited Kaunas with her mother and her co-workers.

“It happened six years ago, or so. I was eleven or twelve years old at the time. My mom organized a trip with her co-workers to Kaunas, to Zalgiris’ final game of the season, as they took on Rytas. I don’t know, it was simply amazing when I found out I’d be going, too. I had only seen the arena on TV.”

The player he remembers best from that night, was Zalgiris fan-favorite Marko Popovic.

“You remember those Marko Popovic three-pointers? The whole arena was going crazy and that’s what I remember best.”

Another thing that stood out for the youngster was the incredible fan support and getting to feel the Zalgiris atmosphere for the first time.

“It was jam-packed in there, all you can see is green around. Of course, we were kind of neutral that day. But the thing that’s been left ingrained in my memory most is the atmosphere and the fans’ support. At 11 years old, I had never seen anything like it. As soon as the game ended, I asked my mom whether we’d be going to the games next season.”
