Sarunas Jasikevicius: “We owe it to the fans” 1
After a dramatic victory in Tel Aviv, Zalgiris is already getting ready for its next EuroLeague bout, as they face Darussafaka on Friday.
The Turkish side finally ended their seven-game drought by defeating Khimki and will hope to ruin the party in Kaunas. Zalgiris still has theoretical hopes of making the playoffs and will surely give it their all in their last home game of the EuroLeague regular season.
Sarunas Jasikevicius shared his thoughts on the upcoming bout against the team from Istanbul.
“Our opponent is very athletic, they battle for the boards really well, they go on offense every chance they get. They’re dangerous. And they proved that yesterday. Perhaps they’re a bit inconsistent, and they’ve lost a lot of close games down the line. However, as always, it’s important to stick to our plan, carry out our own business.”
Jasikevicius stressed that the team has to pay its dues to the fans who have been unbelievable throughout the season, selling out Zalgirio Arena for the 10th time this season.
“I think we owe it to the fans. What they’ve this season done is nothing short of spectacular. All these sold-out games. And so far ahead of time… This is one of the more fun accents of the season. So of course we want to pay them back with a victory. Obviously, we could use a win ourselves, too.”
