“Zalgiris – in your school” takes green-and-whites to Kraziai 0
In the peak of the season, Zalgiris had a day off and spent time enjoying the company at the Zygimantas Liauksminas gymnasium in Kraziai, Kelme municipality. The school was the most active in the “Zalgiris – in your school” competition and earned first place honors in a landslide.
Just as in previous years, throughout the duration of the season, schools registered for and visited Zalgiris’ home games and collected points, with the most active of schools being awarded a special visit from the entire Zalgiris team.
For the third consecutive season, Zalgiris players had the chance to visit Kelme, with the Kelme Jonas Griauciunas gymnasium winning it two years ago, and Kelme Aukuro elementary school taking in top honors last year.
The players and coaches were met by a crowd of Kraziai Zygimantas Liauksminas gymnasium pupils, who shared their creativity, smiles and great mood with the Zalgiris squad and finished off the meeting by traditionally planting an oak in the school yard.
Marius Grigonis was happy to see the smiles on kids’ faces and glad to make it a memorable visit.
“This visit is great for both the kids, and us. There’s not that much to do in the smaller towns, so it’s a huge celebration for them, and we’re very happy to see all our loyal fans.”
Throughout the past 11 years, Zalgiris has already visited schools all around Lithuania, with schools and gymnasiums from Kaunas, Kazlu Ruda, Kalvarijos, Marijampole, Varena, Vilkaviskis and Kelme being amongst the most active ones.
