Zalgiris meets the fans in official team presentation 0

A sportive atmosphere was felt in Kaunas Akropolis’ new leisure and restaurants area, as Zalgiris’ most loyal fans and media was publicly introduced to the 2019-2020 roster of the team.

During the event, all of Zalgiris returning players and five newcomers came to meet and greet the fans. The five players that competed in the World Cup in China were also present, including Aussie Jock Landale.

“I know how much Lithuanians love basketball, and I’ve already had the opportunity to see it in person. I got here just a couple days ago, but I’ve felt the attention immediately. Fan support is definitely something that I appreciate and motivates me to work even harder on the court. I am really happy Zalgiris has so many loyal fans.

Zalgiris head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius paid a tribute to the fans who supported the team all season long in record numbers.

“First and foremost, I want to thank Zalgiris fans again for their record-breaking support in last season’s battles. Seeing how many people gathered here today in Kaunas Akropolis, it seems we’ll have a passionate support this year too. This event is a great chance for our fans to meet the newcomers of the team, and for us – the coaches – the most important thing is that they find their place on the court.

During the introductory event, fans participated in all kinds of competitions and had the chance to win prizes. Players went out of their way to take photos with the fans, handing out autographs and answered questions of the people gathered around. The club’s mascot Zalgirinis and Zalgiris cheerleaders were also there creating a celebratory mood.

The team is all set for tip-off to the season on the 22nd of September in Siauliai, while their first game in Zalgirio Arena will be played on the 25th against Pieno Zvaigzdes.
