Fans invited to support disadvantaged families during game against ALBA 1

Zalgiris’ EuroLeague game against ALBA Berlin on the 24th of January will have a special accent to it, as it will mark the International Education Day.

During this lovely celebration, all teams playing home games on the 21st round of EuroLeague action will mark the occasion, thus the International Education Day will live through basketball from Madrid to Moscow and from Istanbul to Kaunas.

One of the main initiatives is making sure that education would be accessible to everyone, including children from disadvantaged families, who are not always able to buy all the necessary school supplies. Zalgiris invites all the fans not to come to the game empty handed by buying some of the most necessary school supplies from the list below, adding to this initiative.

Zalgiris invites all the fans to help the children from disadvantaged families with these supplies: large drawing notebooks, tip pens, pencils, crayons, fountain and gel pens, writing books and notebooks, rulers, colored or white paper, sharpeners, coloring books, cardboard, glue and pencil cases.

Zalgiris’ Honor Club members will join the initiative by helping collect the support next to the entrances to Zalgirio Arena. Anyone who wasn’t able to purchase a ticket in time, but is looking to take part in the initiative, can leave the school supplies in Zalgiris’ ticket offices during working hours.

There will be a number of activities for pupils during the game against ALBA, as the importance of education will be stressed. Participants of the ‘Zalgiris – in your school’ project will compete in games between the quarters, while one pupil will throw the challenge gauntlet to a grown-up. Children will find interest in representatives of science clubs who will be giving presentations in the lobby.

Zalgiris has been working with schools in Lithuania for over 10 years now with their continued ‘Zalgiris – in your school’ initiative. Pupils are encouraged to partake in Zalgiris’ home games, with the most active school earning a visit from the entire Zalgiris team. This initiative will allow 1000 pupils from all over Lithuania to watch the upcoming game live in the packed, sold-out Zalgirio Arena.
