Siauliai surprise Zalgiris in Kaunas 51
A surprising result landed in Zalgirio Arena, as the green-and-whites couldn’t take care of business in the Betsafe-LKL, falling short to Siauliai, 83-86. It was only second defeat for Lithuanian champions in 19 games this season.
The guest team led early 2-9 but Zalgiris surged to win the first quarter 23-17. The second period saw Siauliai to get in front 37-43.
The third quarter was equal, as Siauliai maintained the 6-point lead, 57-63.
Siauliai ran away when Evaldas Saulys hit three three pointers in the fourth quarter and gave visitors 11 points lead – 70-81. Zalgiris managed to come back but difficult shot that could have tied the game was off by Lukas Lekavicius.
Saulys was the top scorer of the game with 20 points, while Aurimas Urbonas scored 17.
Arturas Milaknis made six threes and scored 18 points for Zalgiris. Zach LeDay had 17 points, while Edgaras Ulanovas finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
