#TimeOutZalgiris. Victory, Donatas Motiejunas and the reality of the coronavirus 0
Zalgiris gave a lesson in basketball for Olympiacos in front of a sold-out Zalgirio Arena, and meanwhile, Dalia Belickaite was traditionally filming the courtside action with the Zalgiris TV crew.
In the latest episode of #TimeOutZalgiris, Dalia talked to former Zalgiris man Donatas Motiejunas, who just returned from China. The big man explained the ongoing situation with the deadly coronavirus that halted the CBA basketball season.
“The situation seemed not very serious at first, nobody really took it seriously. Everything got worse with the Chinese New Year, when everyone started travelling. The virus made its way all through China, and then into the world. It’s not a fun situation, the airports are empty, the cities are empty, everyone’s staying at home… You can definitely feel the worry there.”
The future is still unknown, as he awaits a decision from the league, but in the meantime Motiejunas is enjoying the chance to come home and suit up for the Lithuanian National Team.
“The club let me come here, and when the situation normalizes, we’ll see what the league decides. Whether we continue the season, or we just get to the Play-Offs immediately. We’re sitting waiting, but you still got to get ready and work. The good thing is, I will be able to play for the national team. There’s a bright side to it.”
