#ZalgirisClassics. Reliving the thriller in Malaga 0

Zalgiris Kaunas recently introduced a new series called #ZalgirisClassics, where fans are invited to relive some legendary games in Zalgiris’ history. Every Sunday and Thursday we dive into a memorable game from Zalgiris TV’s archive.

This time, we turn back the time to the beginning of the 2002-2003 EuroLeague season, when Zalgiris began their battles in Group B, taking on Unicaja Malaga.

After losing their first two outings of the season against Montepaschi and Panathinaikos, the Kaunas side left for Spain in the search of their pilot win.

Two legendary Zalgiris men, Saulius Stombergas and Gintaras Einikis, made their return to the team that season. Danius Salenga was entering his third season, while Tadas Klimavicius, Vidas Ginevicius and Darius Silinskis were taking their first EuroLeague steps.

Among the foreigners, Zalgiris roster had Kornel David, the season’s assist leader Ed Cota and Chriss Carrawell.
