Jokubaitis tests positive for COVID-19, as team remains in self-isolation 3

Rokas Jokubaitis’ COVID-19 test came back positive, Zalgiris Kaunas found out on Saturday. The tests for the team were done on Friday after Zalgiris returned from France, where they played their EuroLeague Round 6 game against ASVEL Villeurbanne. The results for the rest of the team came back negative.

Jokubaitis wasn’t feeling well already in France and was immediately separated from the team. He stayed in the hotel during the game, travelled separately to the airport and sat 10 meters away from the rest of the team during the charter flight. He made his way to Kaunas back from Vilnius airport separately from the rest of the team.

Jokubaitis is feeling well at the moment and doesn’t have a fever anymore on Saturday.

The rest of the team remains in self-isolation. They will be additionally tested in coming days. The game against Real Madrid that was set to be played on Friday is up in the air right now, and will be known after the return of the test results.

In the meantime, Zalgiris’ domestic league matches against Neptunas and Pieno Zvaigzdes, that were scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday, respectively, have been postponed. The new dates for these games will be announced in due time.
