Martin Schiller on game against Zenit: “They play well on both ends of the court” 0

On Friday evening, Zalgiris faces the back end of their EuroLeague double week, as they face off against Zenit in the Round 20 match-up in St. Petersburg. Zalgiris will look to bounce back after the loss against CSKA a couple days ago, and take payback for the 75-83 loss to Zenit in their first meeting.

Zalgiris head coach Martin Schiller talked to the media, as he highlighted the importance of former Zalgiris man Kevin Pangos.

“Zenit is a team lead by Pangos. He’s the creator of the team, he’s the main pick-and-roll player of the team. It’s very important to stop him. A lot of their offense runs through pick-and-rolls, so being solid on him, being physical on him is key.”

Schiller also pointed out the dangers Zenit poses to Zalgiris on the wings.

“Another way they score is with shooting. They’ve got three wings who are extremely good coming off screens. Austin Hollins, Billy Baron and of course Rivers. It’s a challenge of the game and we’re looking forward to it.”

Zenit has started the season very well and currently sits sixth in the standings despite having played less games. With an 11-6 record, they have shown solid basketball on both ends of the floor.

“They’re a disciplined team defensively, very focused. They’re a very good team on both ends of the floor and that’s why they’re up there in the standings.”
