Zalgiris takes the win in Panevezys in high-paced affair 7
Zalgiris’ delayed game in Panevezys ended up in another Betsafe-LKL victory. The green-and-whites went on the road and took the tough 94-88 victory against Lietkabelis, improving to 20-2 in the standings.
The high-paced affair started off better for the hosts, as they ran off to a 13-22 start. Nevertheless, led by the team’s captain Paulius Jankunas, Zalgiris caught a good rhythm and were already up by double digits by halftime, 58-46.
The Panevezys side managed to cut the margin back to just three points in the fourth quarter, as the scoreboard read 85-82. Nevertheless, Zalgiris managed to close out the game in cold blood and celebrated their 20th victory.
We saw a vintage Paulius Jankunas, as he put up 21 points and 9 rebounds for a total efficiency of 35. Lukas Lekavicius, Patricio Garino and Martinas Geben all chipped in with 12 points apiece, while Marius Grigonis added 11. Marek Blazevic ended the night with 10 points and 5 rebounds, as Rokas Jokubaitis contributed 8.
