Coach Schiller highlights Panathinaikos length before EuroLeague regular season finale 4
Zalgiris is set to play its final game of the EuroLeague regular season on Thursday, as they host Panathinaikos in Zalgirio Arena. While the Kaunas side are out of the playoffs race and cannot move any higher than their current 11th position, a win at the end of the season would put them at a balanced win-loss ratio.
According to Zalgiris head coach Martin Schiller, the main threat for the Greek giants is size in each and every position.
“Panathinaikos coming to town, they’ve got three games left, we’ve got one, obviously. To characterize them, they’re a very long team, extremely big team, on each position. That’s their biggest strength.”
One of the main weapons of Panathinaikos’ offense is Mario Hezonja, who joined the team late in the season, and has averaged 15.3 points in the 7 games he has played.
“First and foremost, what they added with Hezonja was a second extreme scoring punch for this league. With Nedovic and him, they’ve got two exceptional scorers. It’s a quality that costs money, a quality that is rare. That’s the main thing they added to the roster, a scoring punch.”
Coach Schiller also addressed the fact that Augustine Rubit and Nigel Hayes will be missing for the upcoming game.
“We have to solve everything the way we did in the game against Lietkabelis in the LKL, by pushing everybody up a position and playing smaller than usual. That’s what we’ll do.”
