Zalgiris brings win back from Vilnius 9
Zalgiris secured its 28th victory of the Betsafe-LKL season, as they took down Rytas Vilnius, 90-81.
The two sides exchanged buckets in the early stages of the game, and were going neck-to-neck, as they finished out the first quarter down by one, 21-22. Zalgiris’ play improved in the second, yet they only managed to bring their lead to 3 points at halftime.
The Kaunas side got off to a strong start in the second half, as the lead grew to double-digits with Marius Grigonis dropping seven in a row. With terrific play on both ends of the court, Zalgiris improved the margin to 13 in the final fourth, before allowing a couple of baskets to make it a 90-81 game.
Nigel Hayes was the leading scorer for Zalgiris with 18 points. Arturas Milaknis and Joffrey Lauvergne dropped 14, while Marius Grigonis finished with 12. Lukas Lekavicius ended the night with 11, while Augustine Rubit had 8 to his name. Thomas Walkup traditionally filled the statsheet with 5 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
