Zalgiris continues in victorious ways in Betsafe-LKL 6
Zalgiris tabbed its 31st victory of the Betsafe-LKL season, as they downed Lietkabelis 70-68 after a thrilling affair in Zalgirio Arena that saw the green-and-whites’ record improve to a league-best 31-3.
The game started slowly, with just 6 points from the hosts in the opening half of the first quarter. Nevertheless, the green-and-whites picked up the pace and ended the quarter up by one, 19-18.
The second quarter was a copy-paste version of the first one, with the Lithuanian champions struggling in the opening minutes, but following it up with a run to move back ahead.
The two sides kept each other within punching distance, and the game went down to the wire, with Thomas Walkup crossing the T-s and dotting the I-s for a 70-68 win for Zalgiris.
Joffrey Lauvergne and Nigel Hayes led the way in scoring with 12 points apiece, with the Frenchman also adding 6 rebounds to the tally. Thomas Walkup was impressive with a 11-point, 11-rebound and 5-rebound double-double, as Rokas Jokubaitis added another 11 points. Marius Grigonis ended the night with 9 points to his name.
