Joffrey Lauvergne’s dream five – from Leo Westermman to Nikola Jokic 0
Zalgiris big man Joffrey Lauvergne has represented a number of world powerhouses throughout his career and shared a dream five of players he’s teamed up with in Zalgiris TV’s #MyStartingFive segment.
The Frenchman surprised no one when he picked out his point guard, as he selected his best friend Leo Westermann, who he’s played with in Partizan, Fenerbahce and the French national team.
For his shooting guard, Joffrey had to decide between two of his former Serbian teammates – Bogdan Bogdanovic and Dragan Milosavljevic.
“I’ll pick Dragan, because he’s even crazier than Bogdan,” – smiled the Frenchman.
When picking his small forward, Lauvergne had another dilemma, as he had a tough time deciding between ASVEL swingman Chales Kahudi and one of Bayern’s top guns Vladimir Lucic.
On the other hand, the power forward position was an easy one to pick, as Joffrey kept the spot for Boris Diaw, whom he highlighted as a childhood idol.
For his man in the middle, Lauvergne selected none other than Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic, who the Frenchman had as a teammate in the 2015-16 season when they both played for the Denver Nuggets.
“I will put Nikola Jokic. Firstly, he’s not such a bad player. We used to play against each other, and I saw his evolution. When he came to Denver, they said that we’ll have to work on his body, and we’ll see next season. At the end of the first season, he already was the best player in Denver. I’m very happy for him and for what he became.”
