Zalgiris breaks season record in win over Utena 5
Zalgiris continued its successful campaign in the Betsafe–LKL Playoffs with a 116-80 thrashing of Juventus in game two of the Semifinals. The visitors dropped a league season record in scoring and improved to a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five series.
It was a close affair for the 15 opening minutes, as the hosts’ zone defense seemed to work in Juventus’ favor. Nevertheless, as it started raining three-pointers, Zalgiris managed to make some separation and entered halftime up by double digits.
Thomas Walkup and Rokas Jokubaitis kept the pedal to the metal and helped Zalgiris to an insurmountable lead, 81-64 before the final quarter.
Things just got better for the green-and-whites, as the Lithuanian champions were rolling to a big 116-80 win, having some fun in the process.
Rokas Jokubaitis was the team’s top scorer with 19 points and 5 assists. Thomas Walkup added another 18 points and 5 dimes, while Martinas Geben finished up with 16 points to his name. Nigel Hayes contributed a dozen, while the trio of Joffrey Lauvergne, Arturas Milaknis and Steve Vasturia all finished up with 9 points apiece.
