Zalgiris goes two-up in the Finals series against Rytas 4
Zalgiris secured the second victory in the Betsafe-LKL Finals, as they went on the road to beat Rytas Vilnius 92-70. With the win, the green-and-whites improve to 2-0 in the best-of-five series, just a win shy of the championship.
While the start of the game was an equal exchange of baskets by both sides, Zalgiris took the upper hand in the second half of the opening period, with Thomas Walkup’s sharp drives seeing the lead rise to 25-16
While it was just 7 points between the two teams at halftime, the green-and-whites got rolling after the break, and extended the lead to double-digits before the final period, 67-54.
Zalgiris made sure the game was out of reach and cruised to their second victory in the series, looking to lift the trophy on Monday.
Nigel Hayes was the team’s top scorer, as he dropped 15 points. Thomas Walkup added 14 and 6 assists, while both Joffrey Lauvergne and Arturas Milaknis dropped another 14. Lukas Lekavicius entered double-digit scoring with his floaters, contributing 11 points, as Augustine Rubit finished the game with 8. Marius Grigonis ended the night with 7 points to his name.
