Zalgiris extends contract with Lukas Lekavicius 8
Right after the Betsafe-LKL Finals series was over, Zalgiris immediately started setting the stones for next season, extending a contract with point guard Lukas Lekavicius.
A little while back, the Lithuanian champions had agreed on an extension with Frenchman Joffrey Lauvergne, with Lukas Lekavicius returning to the green-and-white ranks on a 1+1 deal.
The speedy guard made his Zalgiris main team debut in 2014 and will be going into his sixth season with the Kaunas side, having spent two in Panathinaikos.
Lekavicius played 33 games in the EuroLeague, averaging 8.2 points on 50% shooting and 2.4 assists. His numbers in the domestic league are even better. Lukas averaged 10.0 points per game and 3.3 assists for 11.1 efficiency per game.
“I’m happy with everything in Kaunas – we’ve got great conditions here, and the entire season, looking at all things, wasn’t bad. My girlfriend likes it here, we’ll soon have a baby, so I didn’t really want to look anywhere else. We’ve got the national team ahead of us and next season Zalgiris has the potential to grow,” – said Lekavicius.
