Coach Schiller recaps his first year with Zalgiris 6
After completing his first season with Zalgiris in a victorious fashion, head coach Martin Schiller is looking to enjoy the trophies won and dive head first into his vacation.
Before leaving Kaunas for a while, Martin Schiller joined up with Zalgiris TV host Rytis Kazlauskas to review his first year in Lithuania.
“It feels great. The first couple days after the season are always weird, because you go from 100 to 0. One has to understand that suddenly there’s no practice, there’s no game to prepare for. Waking up and doing whatever… Work will start again, and will pick up pretty soon, but right now it’s in neutral mood.” – said the coach who’s left for Mallorca for a short vacation.
Schiller talked about the Betsafe-LKL Playoffs, and shared some details about his celebration after the Finals, as he revealed he actually borrowed the trophy to bring it home.
“The one quality which I’ve learned of Zalgiris parties is that what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room. Nowadays, with social media, there are not so many safe spaces, and it’s a safe space back there. I took the trophy in the taxi back to my place, but I brought it back the same day to Zalgirio Arena.”
The head coach also talked about preparation for games being the top team in the league, the upcoming season and highlighted the areas he wants to improve in the team.
