The first new signing: Zalgiris tabs Tyler Cavanaugh 5
Zalgiris welcomes its first signing of this off-season, as the team announced the arrival of Tyler Cavanaugh, whom Zalgiris penned to a 2+1 contract.
The forward spent the past season playing for Iberostar Tenerife, where they managed to make it to the Semifinals of the ACB for the first time in club history. In the best-of-three series, an underdog Tenerife side lost to Barcelona 1-2.
The 27-year-old Tyler Cavanaugh averaged 7.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and an efficiency of 9.6. Cavanaugh ended the season averaging 48% from beyond the arc, and was third in the league in that regard. His FIBA Champions League numbers were similar, as he put up 9.1 points, shooting 52.4% from beyond the arc, 4.3 rebounds for an average ranking of 9.3.
Cavanaugh joined Rytis Kazlauskas for a call on Zalgiris Insider, where he talked about rejoining forces with Zalgiris head coach Martin Schiller, his plans for the summer and his goals in the upcoming season.
