Tai Webster replaces Emmanuel Mudiay in Zalgiris 54
A change of faces in Zalgiris‘ backcourt awaits, as Emmanuel Mudiay is set to be replaced by 26-year-old point guard Tai Webster.
The contract with Mudiay was cut short on mutual agreement, while Webster joins Zalgiris until the end of the season.
Contrary to what was recently discussed in Lithuanian media, the guard from New Zealand has been vaccinated, and therefore does not face any additional issues to represent Zalgiris. He arrived to Kaunas on Tuesday afternoon.
Webster spent last season in the Australian basketball league, representing the New Zealand Breakers. He averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 29 minutes of game time, all while shooting at a 38.2% clip from downtown.
Before that he played two seasons in Turkey, representing Galatasaray in the EuroCup. Webster started his professional career playing for the Fraport Skyliners after finishing college in Nebraska University.
The high-scoring guard has been a member of the New Zealand men’s basketball team since 2012.
