Ulanovas leads Zalgiris to Cup semi-finals 17
Zalgiris Kaunas overcame CBet Jonava for the second time in the Lithuanian King Mindaugas Cup’s quarter-finals, this time beating the away team by 9 points, 68-59 (18-7, 15-19, 12-18, 23-15).
Last Sunday, Zalgiris eased past Jonava by 11 points. Lithuanian champions advanced to the semi-final stage where they will meet BC Siauliai.
Even though the score was tied (46-46) at the start of the decisive quarter, Zalgiris never let Jonava get in front in the whole game. They organized a crucial 14-2 run (68-55) in the mid-fourth period and celebrated the win.
Edgaras Ulanovas was superb for Zalgiris, accumulating 20 points (5/8 2PT, 2/4 3PT, 4/4 FT), 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 turnover, 1 steal, 1 block, and 32 PIR.
Tyler Cavanaugh aided him with 14 points (3/5 2PT, 2/6 3PT, 2/2 FT), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 1 steal, and 17 PIR.
Zalgiris played without Arturas Milaknis, Tai Webster, and captain Paulius Jankunas, who tested positive for COVID-19.
