Lauvergne returns in Zalgiris win against Neptunas 13
Zalgiris Kaunas (18-1) cruised past Neptunas Klaipeda (6-11) 77-60 (25-16, 16-21, 18-13, 18-10) and goth their tenth Lithuanian Basketball League victory in a row.
Zalgiris answered all the questions at the start of the second half. Jure Zdovc’s squad created a solid 15-point lead (57-42) in the mid-third quarter and never let Neptunas think about the win.
Joffrey Lauvergne returned on the floor for Zalgiris. The French center has not competed in a basketball match since October 7 EuroLeague duel against Zenit Saint Petersburg. In that contest, Lauvergne suffered a shoulder injury, which forced him to surgery.
Lauvergne finished the game with 9 points (4/8 2PT, 1/2 FT), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 11 PIR.
Edgaras Ulanovas led the route for Zalgiris, posting 15 points (5/6 2PT, 1/5 3PT, 2/2 FT), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 23 PIR.
Zalgiris’ Janis Strelnieks and Mantas Kalnietis were sidelined due to injuries, but Arturas Milaknis returned to LKL action after the coronavirus break.
Zalgiris: Edgaras Ulanovas 15 (4 REB), Karolis Lukosiunas 13, Niels Giffey 11 (5 STL), Joffrey Lauvergne 9 (6 REB).
Neptunas: Zygimantas Janavicius 13 (6 AST), Matas Jogela 11 (4 REB), Edgaras Zelionis 8 (5 REB).
