Zalgiris guard Seibutis motivates new group of One Team participants 0

It is the third year that Zalgiris Kaunas has been enrolled in Euroleague Basketball corporate social responsibility project One Team and has started working with the second social group this season. Just like the previous season, the second group is from the probation center in Kaunas area, the youth who are in higher risk group.

The beginning of the workshops as usually have started with the honorable ambassadors from Zalgiris Kaunas – Renaldas Seibutis and Olivier Hanlan. The main aim of the workshops is to help the young boys find their passion in life, set goals for themselves and to teach them social and behavioral skills, motivate them.

The first workshop has kicked off with the empowering speech from Renaldas Seibutis. He mentioned how important it is to firstly know what you want in your life, to find the aim and purpose, as well as to keep working towards that step by step no matter the difficulties you come across. He has mentioned that there are days when it seems like nothing is going in the right direction, no matter if it is work, school, home or basketball court, you have to keep at it, never give up and keep pushing harder and eventually all the hard work and struggle will start paying back.

Renaldas also mentioned that it is crucial to try and close off all the negativity coming from ones environment and keep striving to prove firstly to yourself that you are able to achieve your goals.

During the initial workshop, children had a chance to experience Zalgirio Arena tour, were watching Zalgiris game and were involved in a half time game on the court, where they won and in the very first step of the project proved their ability to work in a team.

This season Zalgiris Kaunas has started One Team workshops in November and for 3 months have been working with Kaunas socialization center and its children. They have completed the 12-week program and now it is time for a different group.

There are 34 basketball clubs within Euoleague and Eurocup that are involved in One Team in 12 different countries.
